doubt you will get a definative “black & white” answer in this CYA world we live in…even when it involves such a vital subject??
Agreed. Looking for something definitive on possible injury since that is the only issue. Could care less about the rest.
Not only do you think you know everyone’s age, you assume that they have the ability to see through the internet to your little book. You also assume too much with that SOLAS training manual - most vessels use a generic printout to meet a requirement, and most are not SOLAS to begin with. That manual is not generated by the IMO, or any type approval facility, and I bet it does not distinguish the 22lb or 35lb buoyant force variety of Type 1 for which this height is based?!
I guess the FIRST thing to go is your sense of humor. You guys used to be alot more fun.
You are right about the manual. It’s a “safety works publication”. The IMO SOLAS book is 600 bucks so I doubt any boat in the oil bidness is going to have one for sure. Would have thought the MODU’s would have deep enough pockets. My question would be that if this is on board to meet the requirements of the SOLAS training then is there one ultimate answer to this question? i.e. does the SOLAS book answer this question or just dictate that there must be training on the subject? I will still try to get a quote from my training as all classes have be stictly teaching the no jacket over 15 ft.
Hope I didn’t get your blood pressure up.

I hope you don’t think you offended me. I am just telling you what my SOLAS manual says. I can see just fine. I have 20-10… “CORRECTED” vision. LOL
Yeah, cause the third thing to go is… Just kidding. Ok then, glad I could be annoyingly helpful. Type to you again soon. Peace.
