I suspect he means how in many US states, when a man divorces, he is typically taken to the cleaners financially by filthy divorce lawyers and corrupt family courts, forced to pay child support as well as alimony, and allowed to see his kids on limited terms dictated by the mother and government. If he trips up, or sometimes even if he doesn’t make a mistake, he is simultaneously sent to jail and told to work more hours and get a better job so he can pay more child support and alimony, and get restricted custody to boot.
Marriage and family building in the US is an enormous risk, in that way.
It’s not risky if you marry a lady that makes more $$$ than you.
Absolutely there are a few areas in the U.S. that aren’t the best place to live. In South America, there are a lot more places that aren’t the best place to live. If the United States wasn’t what it is, Costa Rica or Spain would probably be acceptable to me.
Hi there,I’ve live in South America and haven’t found better place to live. The people are very friendly and the culture is wonderful. No stress and rush. It all depend where you settle down. F.i avoid huge cities also those medium sized as the crime rate is rather very high. If you select a small town normally you will live a very good life, especially in Patagonia, south Argentina is very good places one can find. Also south Brazil, Uruguay is also very good.
Then to the work and job situation in S.Americas. The day rate is not very good but if you are alone don’t worry you will survive good. If you planning to have wife and kids, then you should think abt education first. Without good paid jobs you would not survive as a rating to feed your family. You should definately think abt navigantional or engineering school and then you could have a lot more jobs to pick from. Oil industry in S.A and Brasil is huge and need lots of people. Good luck buddy
But really No, thats hyperbole on your part. No one said anything about “bailing”. Deadbeat dads deserve what they get. My Dad was a deadbeat. But, I’ve seen too many good Dad’s have their lives ruined by the US family law system.
Earned money or family money? My wife works like a lunatic and always has. Makes bank. No issues here!
The point is not necessarily to have a wife make more or anything but why some guys like a wife that doesn’t work or doesn’t make much. Ok stay home and take care of kids, for a few years but go back to making 100+ grand a year ASAP.
When my wife and I first started living together, she had a good job. She ended up losing the job a couple months into playing house.
After a few months of being out of work she got pregnant with our first kid.
Four years later, when my first kid was old enough for us to put in preschool, she got pregnant with our second kid.
So the plan now is, when kid #2 gets into kindergarten, the wife gets a job. Meanwhile we practice birth control. I am wise to her tricks.
No regrets.
Yeah South America is a wonderful place to raise your kids. They don’t have all those cartel drug war going on down there like they do up here in the U.S. Of A…

You have to factor in the concealed weapons permit that is apparently needed to live in the USA safely. Drug wars are common in the USA; Houston, Miami, New Orleans etc have about the same murder rate as many countries. South America is a continent much larger that the USA and within that continent are many countries that are quite nice. The political corruption is the same or less than that in the USA. Millions and millions of people live in South America, raise families and live happy lives. They have been doing so for as long as the USA has been in existence.
Then why in the fuck are they risking their lives to sneak into our country if it’s so great?!?!?
You obviously have either simply forgot the fact that previous contributors said “many” places, not “all” places in SA are nice, or have succumb to American exceptionalism all together. Many refugees/migrants are from places like Mexico, Honduros, Nicaragua, etc. That certainly is not ALL countries. What other country would give them the benefits that we do in the near vacinity? Probably not many. Anyways, you really need to open your eyes man.
Then why not move to one of those other great CA/SA countries? Why move north why not south? They already speak the language...well never mind in 'Murica we will just change our language to accommodate you. Oh and my eyes have been wide open for quite some time.
I’d be down to move to Europe or the Med, I don’t think I’d want to live in SA or CA permanently though. I can pretty much get any climate type I want just moving inside the US so I’ll stay here. Plus I love America. It’d have to take some serious nuclear war or something for me to Expatriate for life.
I’ve been in the Mediterranean for the past three months. I’ve never been happier to be back home in America. I love this country and the people who live in it.
