What if its over the 200 part but below the 500 ITC?
A 200T GRT license usually has a 500 ITC along with it. So if you are operating in the US you can run any vessel under 200 GRT (or 500 ITC if it only has one measurement) or a vessel overseas that is under 500 ITC. When vessels operate anywhere other than the US you go by the ITC regulatory tonnage.
Example: You are running a 170’ supply boat that has a GRT of 198 and an ITC of 550 and you have a 200 GRT/500 ITC license. If the boat is working in the US, such as the GOM, you can operate the vesssel without any problems because you have a 200 GRT license. If the boat gets a contract in Brazil you could not operate it as the regulatory tonnage will fall to 550 ITC and your license is only good for 500 ITC.
A 1600 GRT license usually comes with a 3000 ITC endorsement as well. A 100 GRT license usually doesn’t come with any ITC endorsements that I am aware of. Just remember if its in the US you go by GRT, if its overseas you go by ITC. If your license is big enough for either application then you are good to go.
