Lol he’s on the barge so it still doesn’t matter

What if everyone fell overboard but the Tankerman PIC?

then he’s fucked now …isn’t he?

And the AB’s with him the docking mates? I hope I’m following correctly…

Oh who knows they are prob. Assist barge capts. On the left coast we have tankerman no barge whatever you call’em

No such thing as a captain on commercial vessels? Where is the source of this info please?

I have heard that there’s no master on tugboats, only a captain for the duration of a watch, then the mate becomes captain for the duration of his watch. Personally, it all sounds like garbage to me and I don’t believe a word of it.

Where I come from, there is one captain, and he is also the master. Period.

One cannot prove something is not, only that something is. Thus it is on you to prove that there IS such a thing as a captain on commercial vessels. Find a COI that calls for a “captain” or a license certifying someone as a “captain”. (Where you come from there is one master and you call him captain.)

Captain is a colloquial title with no legal standing or definition. It comes from back in the day when the captain and master were different people, on merchant ships captain was a military appointee with little authority outside protection of the vessel. It has since become a title of respect for the person in command of a vessel (seagoing or flying) but it is not the legal title or job position of that person.

I love my greek fisherman’s hat. I just pretend they don’t make those four poser-yachty hats…

I looked at that website and others and they even make them with gold bars and all now.i remember a lot of the Portuguese fisherman I grew up around wore those . The charter boat guys loved them to.

This thread just made my boring dock watch that much better, thanks folks!
