Pretty sure that’s 250/day
That’s in my home town. While there may be a need for a tankerman for one reason or another there, this is probably being offered a hiring agency that operates out of FWB, the name of which escapes me. The USAF has 2 bases there that have waterfronts and access to the GOM and have operational utility boats. Other than that it’s a major hub of a large number of sports fishing vessels and yachts, etc. The intercoastal waterway cuts through FWB also.
I would like to know the name of the company, might be a good job lead. There was about 20 jobs listed in the area.
That would be a $250 dollar a day loss for me … Making $500 a day in New York, NY.
500 a day to be just a Tankerman … Good job finding a way to brag about it.
He’s not a Tankerman, he’s a Captain!!
Says so right there on his user name!

That must be the rate for a 3rd through 5th captain.

I am a barge captain aka “Tankerman PIC- barge”
To be bragging, you would think he would be a real captain or chief. I guess some people just like having a big head
Goes to show ya that you’re a Yankee.

I actually have a small head, but I do have big ears, so you were close…

A “barge” “captain” eh?
But a barge is not self propelled … how do you “captain” it?
Do they put a fugazi steering wheel on a little console somewhere so you can help get the barge through the gate?
I’m willing to bet its something similar to a dp barge with thrusters.
Everyone likes the Captain title until shit hits the fan. As soon as the USCG starts to ask to many questions during an inspection or an accident. The first words out or their mouth are “I am just a Tankerman Sir”.
A made up term to make unlicensed personnel feel important !
Bottom line, $500 a day is awsome, no matter what or where. Not to mention all the perks that the larger companys have. Just my two zincs.
The only perk at Bouchard is to be able to call yourself a captain or get fired for no reason!
