Gas free the tank and the line and weld a patch over it. Have to get the office involved, but that’s the fix until the shipyard.

ISGOTT rules mandate all cargo tanks within a radius of 30 meters around the working area should be emptied, cleaned, gas freed and maintained of hydrocarbons <1% LFL. That’s for starters. ABS or Class will have to approve the repairs, it has to be by a certified welder and no one is going to be certified on his tanker most likely.

5 years as Chief Mate on tankers…I’m well aware what’s involved in welding on deck.

I’m also aware it’s not that big a deal.
