:o:o

Just improved their site.

See more vessels on our new, improved live map

Here are some tips

You can track by vessels name but spelling punctuation spaces between names etc have to be exactly like the vessel entered into the transmitter. It’s easy to go wrong. If you have somebody on the vessel get the IMO or MMSI number. Marine Traffic has advanced search features that allow tracking by number.

If you know, the vessel is in a particular place, port for example, you can pull up a list of all vessel & find what you want scrolling the list.

The free version of marine traffic.com is relying on shore based receivers linked,on the internet. They also track using satellite data but its pay and not cheap Used it a lot when the company paid. Retired working casually I don’t buy it.

Good dodge is pick up the vessel wherever you can & find out were she’s going. Go to distances between ports on line get the distance. Back to AIS obtain the vessels speed. Calculate ETA & start watching when she is close.

Many voyages pass points close to shore that will receive a signal East cost to Gulf when she passes Florida, The Capes, Hatteras best, Virginia capes if calling a Bay Port etc. Panama Canal I use often. Ship transits not much to delay her after.

Working against you some owners disguise with false names. Many fishing boats report as tugs .
