Fishing Boat Fire - Good Samaritan Rescues 3

A Good Samaritan rescued three people floating at sea on a life raft Tuesday. They had to abandon their boat while fishing 30 miles southeast of Cape May, N.J.

Miss Dollie’s crew called the Coast Guard at around 6:40a.m. The boat was taking on water and flooding, according to a press release.
The Coast Guard then sent out an urgent call for help from any nearby boats. Amy Marie, a ship nine miles away from the sinking vessel, answered the call and headed to the scene, the press release said.
Amy Marie’s crew rescued all three people from the life raft.

A rescue boat from Coast Guard Station Cape May and a rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J. were also dispatched to the scene.

The rescue helicopter caught images of the ship engulfed in flames.
