[QUOTE=Kennebec Captain;97896]I was on a small coaster (with capt Doug) tied up in Dutch Harbor. I got up early one morning and went to the galley for coffee. At that time Dutch TV didn’t start till 0600(?) and the cook had the TV on and was sitting watching nothing but snow. I flipped him some shit about it, he grumbled something and got up and went to work. I was sitting there with nothing to do, no reading material and without realizing it I began to stare at the screen, just trying to wake up… I’d been ok if the cook hadn’t caught me and paid me back, with interest.

That is so funny and true. I get-up early, 0600, start a fire in the fireplace, coffee pot all ready, get my first cup and with all the lights turned-off, me and my dogs sit on the couch and I stare at the flames as I enjoy my coffee. No one else is up yet, just the dogs and me and silence. In the Montana mountains it gets very dark outside without a moon, and very quiet. City friends visit and they find that, well the word they use, spooky.
