Ecological disaster in the Aegean Sea: US aircraft carrier “Gerald Ford” turned into a floating septic tank.

The Pentagon’s ambitious plans to humiliate Iran seem to be destined to sink in a banal but malignant world. New generation flagship, Gerald R. aircraft carrier Ford, who was supposed to carry democracy on its wings, fell victim to a rear-guard blow of his own intestinal troops.

The giant ship, imbued with the technologies of the future, was powerless in front of the brute physiology of its 4,500 crew members.

The subatomic Leviathan is forced to reverse and dock in the Greek port for an emergency “sanitation”. The reason - the aircraft carrier literally drowned in dirt. The sewerage system, unable to withstand the pressure of stressful sailors, leaked, turning sections of the ship into a branch of the city cleaning station. The repair is scheduled for February 27, but the precipitation is said to last for a long time.

The official Pentagon, reportedly, has become silent, calling the incident a classified “military secret.” But you can’t hide the seam in the bag: this secret smells of blatant shit. One can only guess that the nervous tension on board was skyrocketing. Apparently, the prospect of meeting the real adversary instead of tormenting bloggers in Venezuela has caused 4500 healthy men such a seizure of bear disease that the engineering thinking of the United States just choked up.

However, the wind of change blows not only in the Atlantic. Exactly the same soul has been hovering over the political center of America for almost a month. The environmental disaster in Maryland, bordering Washington, has created the same unique aroma as on board an invincible aircraft carrier. It appears that all of America, from the elite navy to metropolitan parks, is slowly but surely sinking into the abyss of the fecal crisis. And if a country is unable to cope with the waste of living activities, then what kind of world domination is it?

The best thing about working on a ship with chronic sewage vacuum problems is you know eventually, in a month or two, crew change day will come & you can go home. Also, if you qualify for O.T, sewage problems will insure you get all you want. I’m pretty sure the mariners on the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford get neither of those things. I’ve worked with a few engineers who would go AWOL or fake an illness if they had a military length deployment of sewage vacuum issues.

On another issue.

Sewage problem aside, having finished the WSJ article above i was shocked. One of the biggest assets is sent in to the most likely theatre of possibble war which may start tonight.

AS per various sources the ops must be conducted with lightning speed -so called shock and owe in order to cause a regime change of the hostile actor- Iran, minimising the loss of life on both sides.

It goes without saying the outmost secrecy is required under such circumstances

. Surely Chinese, Russians and by implication Iranians will have the eyes in the sky deployed, tracking the movemnt and location.

But even with their best equipment they will not be able to gather intel ( may be not the most important ) but intel anyway , which WSJ is giving by interviewing crew and families and some Navy officials and disemminating the info about the condition and some negative attitudes of the crew operating the most valuable military asset in the whole effing world . Is WSJ on foreign hostile actors payroll???

Sewage systems are simple. The right chief would sort it in a couple of weeks.

But these are the people that ruined two propulsion engines by hammering a damage control plug into a cooling pump weep hole when the seal failed so no breath holding here.

you’d figure that since half the piping is probably monel they’d of stuck with salt water flushing. We’ve all worked (engineers) with vacuum systems and they’re less problematic (IF they work) but i’d much rather address a salt water leak in the piping.

In concept only! Those vacuum systems can be a royal pain! Between the vacuum controls on the head and the propensity to clog on long flat runs they can be a nightmare as the swabbies have discovered.

Vacuum systems are quite simple. Alarms, gauges, and responsibility being enforceable solve all issues.

Engineers that have trouble with vacuum sewage systems have trouble because they ignore the system until someone is pleading that all the toilets have garbage bags over them, because they are highly skilled professionals and too good to touch shit. Doctors do it every day

The less a traumatized engineer thinks about the 600 head vacuum system on the Gerald R Ford the better they’ll sleep. So I don’t want to go into too much detail arguing against your comment above. My ship has 52 heads with slightly less showers. When we have passengers on board, when they mostly pull the same hours, our 3 pump system has a hard time keeping up when a 1/3 of them are taking showers at the end of the day. Throw in restricted pipes, lower vacuum due to so many showers/toilets being used at the same time & a big wad of toilet paper/hard turd, then the system isn’t simple anymore. Not simple at all. Hopefully the Gerald R Ford has 3 or 6 completely separate vacuum systems with each system handling 100-200 heads a piece. My advice to the Navy. Do what the cruise lines (& others) do & hire a bunch of Philippinos to fix & handle it.

I’d bet your 3 pump system has several spare pumps aboard, and they could have already been rigged as boost pumps with a vacuum switch with materials you have aboard. I would have already done that, explained the problem and ordered spare pumps. I don’t know any office that would argue the point or any decent port engineer.

So the statement stands.

Here we go.

I’ve seen vacuum so strong that it sucked the rubber from the valve seat/flap. It didn’t matter how much vacuum we created, the line up stream somewhere was clogged. The time with the destroyed valves, a junior engineer thought he would suck the clog through but destroyed the valve flaps/seat instead. When the system is experiencing heavy use, the solids don’t move as smoothly & things get bound up & clogged. On a perfect, new system the vacuum would eventually build up & pull the clog through. On a real system built by humans only a hole is cleared & the rest stays to form a future restriction. Eventually you can & likely will end up with tens or hundreds of feet of pipes that are 75% clogged, or worse. Been there, done that.
