Derelict Barge drifted from the Canadian Arctic to Russian Coast

A barge broke its tow in Canada’s Arctic earlier this year and drifted as far away as the Russian coast. (US Coast Guard)

I am assuming the time of this drifting is approximately three months. From the article “nearly half of the ships mishaps were machinery damage or failure”. So it appears to me if you run adrift in the Canadian Arctic or off the coast of Alaska you are on your own because there is a lack of salvage towing available until you reach Russian waters.
