BP “Company Man” Donald Vidrine
“I remember the BP company man (Donald Vidrine) saying, ‘This is how it’s going to be,” Brown said during a joint U.S. Coast Guard and Minerals Management Service hearing to investigate the deadly Gulf oil spill incident.

One indication that the oil rig crew was not aware of the severity of the situation in the last hours can be discovered in a statement given to the Coast Guard by Donald Vidrine, the BP official who had the argument with the Transocean workers.

A copy of that statement, which is a summary of an April 23 BP telephone interview, was obtained by a newspaper in Texas.

Those documents say Donald Vidrine “Did negative test at 7:50 p.m. and it was a good test,” referring to a kind of pressure test done on the well.

BP officials said Wednesday that test really produced an unusual reading of no pressure on a line running from the rig to the blowout preventer, a result that should have raised red flags for employees.

Donald Vidrine then said he went to the rig floor to investigate the seawater pumping operation, found it appeared to be working properly, and then returned to his executive office.

                                                                                                                                                                                No related posts.

Why doesn’t Mr. Vidrine appear in a Google news search since the end of May? And Mark Hafle – has he been back to answer more questions? And where’s Robert Kaluza?
