This is nonsense, and again has nothing to do with the original comment. What this has to do with insurance costs based on BP and TO’s Major-League Fuck-Up is exactly zero. Zero. Nothing MMS did or did not do absolves BP (which self insures) or turns back the clock on the Major-League Fuck-Up they are an integral part of.

My point is that there’s been an absence of Gov’t, the attitude is a laissez faire one, get on with it and we’ll happily take our cut of the profits. For those who are unaware, HPHT wells are notoriousy dangerous. Add to that the deepwater factor and the risks increase. The Gov’t gave permission for wells to be drilled in these areas without any real understanding of the risks. Has the Gov’t given license to drill in Deepwater to smaller Operators? I don’t know the answer, but imagine the consequences if a smaller Operator were operating the Macondo prospect. There wouldn’t be the massive response seen today. As for whether it absolves BP: Contractually, they are obliged to pay for all spill clean-up. If fault is found to be exclusively BP’s then they’ll pay accordingly. It seems to me that it’s in the interests of all on the Gulf Coast that BP survive, at the very least, to pay the bills.
Regards MMS, they have clearly shown incompetence. And if, as many of you suggest, they were in the pocket of BP, then you need to start taking some of the venom directed at BP and score an own goal. And, I re-iterate, this was a bunch of Americans in collusion with each other. That’s 100% fact. [/B]

To the [B]BP[/B] Culture of cost over Safety, To the [B]BP[/B] Engieeners that ignored request for more centralizers, to the [B]BP[/B] office in Houston who held the strings of the BP Compnay Man (puppet)
To the [B]BP[/B] managment who had a plan save millions and dont forget about the walrusus and to the [B]BP[/B] mouthpiece Bob S lying SOB and to the [B]BP[/B] ceo who said its a litlle spill no significant impact.
