Deepwater Horizon - Transocean Oil Rig Fire
The Coast Guard has just informed BP that they have 48 hrs to come up with a better solution to the clean up…but no mention of what will happen if they don’t. What do you think the CG will do? Bring in other companies? Let the locals try something? Let the MANY who think they have a solution have a go at it?
Doug Suttles’ response: http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/posted/2931/BP_COO_Letter_to_Federal_On_Scene_Coordinator.653727.pdf
James Watson’s response to Doug: Check out this link (Shared via http://ow.ly):

This is the last paragraph from James’ letter.

“Based on the foregoing, BP must identify in the next 48 hours additional leak containment capacity that could be operationalized and expedited to avoid the continued discharge of oil from the Macado [sic] 252 well into the Gulf with expanded redundancy.”

The Coast Guard didn’t tell them to do anything! He said they “must identify” and “could be operationalized” which is very weak. BP responded with a plan they have had for three to four weeks and which the Coast Guard already knew. This is a veil attempt to make the Coast Guard seem tough and in control. They recycled old news.
