Deepwater Horizon - Transocean Oil Rig Fire

Well, obviously then, it doesn’t (all) drift away. Is there a snowball’s chance that it could pile up until it chokes off the flow, at least long enough to get the relief wells going- or maybe gets the plume/ flow down so “small” that a whole bunch could be dumped on it at once to try & accomplish that? (something is better than nothing. Hopefully)

I’m figuring that the gas is a/ the main factor in the pressure causing the kicks & driving the leaks. Is there some reason why they don’t somehow vent the gas/ burn it off to reduce the pressure? (thinking they are already losing loads of money already trying to stop the leak & on what’s coming out)
