One more invention to move control of ships ashore:

I can see it now. Crewman A was seen to have a double helping of desert. Crewman B drank more than the recommended daily allowance of coffee during his watch. Crewman C was observed on deck wearing a pair of shorts, and non-conformity sunglasses when he should have been wearing coveralls, safety boots, gloves, safety glasses and helmet regardless of whether he was on duty or not.
In case of a real accident, interference will prevent transmission to the office and the onboard master will be wheeled into the dock to face charges.
I struggle to think how this setup would have prevented the Ever Given going aground.

I’m glad I don’t have to sail on a ship like that.
Captain’s Eyes looking out the bridge windows is more my style.
