Today the federal government announced the approval of the nations first offshore wind farm in Nantucket Sound, as blogged about here by Mike. Offshore wind farms and turbine installation vessels were also blogged about here by Sean. Cape Wind Associates discuss some of the aspects of the upcoming construction of the Cape Wind Project here. Has anyone heard which companies will be handling the installation of the subsea electric cabling and wind turbines for this project? This is the first in a number of such projects being considered up and down the East Coast, which suggests to me that it might be a good time to look into the companies involved in cable laying and turbine installation.
