What: California Maritime Leadership Symposium

Since 2001 a broad based coalition of the maritime industry headed up by CALMITSAC (California Maritime and Intermodal Transportation System Advisory Council), CAPA (California Association of Port Authorities) and the Southern California organization HAIC (Harbor Association of Industry and Commerce) have joined together for an annual Symposium in our state’s capitol, Sacramento. This conference began as an effort to educate and inform our state’s legislature and administration about the challenges, benefits and needs of a statewide maritime transportation system. Over the years, this conference has become the premier industry and state government platform for dialogue and education about maritime priorities and policy. Its discussion of state and national transportation issues has benefited industry, the state’s legislative bodies and administration while focusing attention on crucial needs of the country’s vital West Coast gateways.
