I was denied short term disability insurance because Im a deckhand/engineer. And how dangerous the job is. Does anyone have short term disability they have bought outside of their job? Like aflec and Combined?or? tyhanx for any help.

Aflac will be able to hook you up. I have short term, long term, and hispital indemnity. My company provides the agent so that might be a factor when you call them.
We have long and short term disabiltiy, but our company offers us Aflac at a group rate. We have to pay for it, but it is available and I have it as an extra.
A good friend of mine that works as a mechanic on the beach, got hurt while he was working in his yard cutting down a tree. He had the big Aflac package, and he will tell you it saved his ass. Probably would have lost everything he owned if he did not have it.
Personaly I have never had to use any form of disability, but if I ever do, I want all the policy’s I can get.

A while ago, I looked into getting some coverage from AFLAC and was told that due to the nature of my job that I wasn’t eligible for coverage. Tugboats were on their “too dangerous” list.
