Batteries for the future

Batteries for EVs, ships and stationary application is an industry for the future:

Plans are afoot for rapidly expanding battery production in Norway and Scandinavia. The advantage is abundance of hydro electric power supply and plenty of space to build factories.
Here is but one of the new project in the process of establishment:

International heavy weight companies are in the game:

One of these days some entrepreneur working in his garage is going to find something new that will make traditional battery ‘philosophy’ obsolete overnight. they say solar power is at about 10% of it’s capability right now.
My standard is that star trek episode where the actors are in a cold cave and one aims their phazer at a rock and heats it up to red hot in about 4 secounds. when batteries get to that level of efficiency the green world will have arrived !!

First European giga battery factory open in northern Sweden:

Soon to be followed by one more across the border in Norway.

A bright new future is coming to your rocket, aircraft, ship, car, or in your pocket:

The battery can be used to power devices and machines of any size, from aircraft and rockets to electric vehicles and smartphones.

What could possibly go wrong?

Sorry for reviving this thread.

More happening in the battery production and recycling business:

Old thread but few posts. Reviving.

New EV batteries are making electric cars cheaper and safer

A chemistry change is coming to U.S. and European EVs, which could reduce costs and fires.

A new kind of battery could make American EVs cheaper and safer, experts say. But first, it will have to overcome trade barriers between the United States and China.
But there are plenty of barriers for U.S. companies that want to adopt a technology dominated by Chinese firms. Tariffs and tax credit restrictions have made it too expensive for most American automakers to import LFP batteries from China, and national security concerns have made it hard for American companies to partner with Chinese battery makers to build factories in the United States.

Since LFP batteries are made from common materials and last longer, they also have a smaller environmental footprint than NMC batteries.

The issue with batteries is you have seem them electric cars catch fire and near impossible to put the fire out. Imagine this happens to a vessel out at sea. Scarey thought indeed
