Atmospheric Pressure Allowance in UKC Calculations

For those handling deep-draft vessels on tide-dependent arrivals, how are you accounting for atmospheric pressure in your UKC calculations?

I recently received an anonymised SIRE 2.0 observation through DeepDraft where an officer couldn’t explain the pressure allowance specified in the company’s procedures. This is something, I’ve rarely seen addressed as a separate calculation, both at sea and during audits. Of course, some ports already provide weather-adjusted forecasts, so applying another pressure correction without understanding the figures could create its own problem.

Do your procedures require a numerical correction, or do you rely on port forecasts and existing UKC margins?

I explored the issue here, including a worked tanker example:

If I wasn’t retired I could feel a headache coming on. The calculation is quite simple in its self but I had never seen it before. Such fine margins for operating I was fortunately spared and where they were really critical the height of tide was there on the tide gauge or the numbers on the dock wall.
