Hello all,
Will be making a trip to Alaska for 90 days this summer to cadet ship with Alaska Marine Highway. This is a pretty simple post, I am already aware of what the company does hence the reason I chose them. I just wanted to know any stories anyone has about the company and or other comments. Thanks

You will experience the most incredible scenery, meet some of the nicest people on Earth, go to some amazing places, see some awesome wildlife, and probably go bugfucked if you have any dealings with the shoreside management.
Have had a few buddies do sea projects up there. one working there now and loving it. The other one is still in school and loved every minute of his 90 days. They both have nothing but good things to say about the company and both were offered jobs after graduation. Make sure you work on your trips for pilotage also.
Thanks for the info, I’m sure its going to be quite an experience! and yes I’m up to date on the planned pilotage.

And get the opportunity to snack on Alaska Spot Prawns, Petersburg Pink Shrimp, Coonstripe and Sidestripe Shrimp, King Crab, Dungeness Crab, Cockles, Clams, Geoduck and Red Snapper. Halibut, five kinds of Salmon, smoked salmon, rockfish, smoked black cod and smoked hooligans. Your crew will know where and when to find these, it will be better because it is fresh. Don’t hesitate to buy it if you can’t get it from a friend. Treat yourself good. All of my friends who work there like the job, but hate the b.s. coming from off the ships.
