70 more days to get AB Unlimited

am in need of aprox 70 more days of seatime to get promoted from RSTB to AB on the rig I’ve just started at. I have experience as an AB but my new employer requires an Unlimited document for the AB position and I currently have Limited…so I was wondering if anybody has any advice? I’ve been working on an inland barge rig for the last year and am pretty sure I can’t use that time. All of my seatime so far is unlimited tonnage. can I count a previous RFPNW class for time?

I would put it in to NMC with the inland barge time and see what they say, it might work out to your benefit,JFYI you can email everything including the seatime to a rec. and pay online now, should take less than 10 days to get an answer

The check list for AB Unlim. calls for 1080 days on Oceans or Great Lakes.

.It wouldn’t hurt to ask NMC to take the inland time into consideration, you never know…Worse case they reject it…If that didn’t work I would buy a boat and write my own time, especially in this economy with a job waiting, and wouldn’t think twice about doing it…Just keep a log and document it…There is no tonnage minimum for the unlimited ticket, which I think is odd but at this point nothing surprises me…

…should I just use a logbook for the private vessel, or is there a form I could use? what information would I need to to supply for the time without being too minimal? THANKS SO MUCH

The coast guard supplies a small vessel sea service form. You can look it up online, its available on the USCG website. Here is a link to it as well: www.uscg.mil/forms/cg/CG_719S.pdf

You would use the small vessel form that SF mentioned but I like to have a back up as well,so I also keep my own log book…

The CG allows you to document your own sea service up to 200 Tons,if you are the OWNER of the vessel…If you are on someone elses boat then the owner of that boat will need to attest to the time you spent…Also if you have time NC /Oceans on someone elses boat and haven’t used the time in a previous application now would be the time to try and document it,if you can…
