Any news abt MV Meghna Prestige ?
It was only a question of when:
Salvage is progressing:
Containers being moved to the EEMS DUBLIN positioned alongside
(Canadian Coast Guard)
She is still there:
The wreck is being prepared for the upcoming winter:
I don’t see how the hull will survive an entire winter. Hoping for the best -
I am hugely surprised it has survived so long after the grounding.
There is no point in saving containers of rotting food. Let nature take its course.
Remove the fuel that its practical to remove, and accept the fact that some small amount will remain and eventually be released into the environment.
The environment survived escaping oil from hundreds of ships sunk during wars and wrecked in the past. It will survive a small amount of fuel oil escaping from the MSC Baltic. In another 50 years there will be no visible trace of the ship or its fuel.
It’s crazy to spend $$$$ hundreds of millions on wreck removal in a very wild and remote place. That money would be better spent on protecting wetlands, rain forests, national parks, and cleaning up plastics.
