Here is the NMD released extract from the PSC report:
Inspection report ready after port state control
The Norwegian Maritime Authority conducted a Port State Control (PSC) on board the ship NCL Salten in Orkanger on Tuesday evening. Earlier in the day, the ship was towed off Byneset, where it had been lying since the grounding on Thursday 22 May:

Nothing said about having a second person (lookout) on the bridge.
Probably because it was clear weather and bright daylight at the time of grounding.
The AB on lookout earlier had gone off watch at 04:20 hrs. according to the 2nd Off, statement /logbook

Quick clay can be a big problem in Scandinavian.
Scary that the ground can liquify so quickly under certain circumstances.
This is an interesting old documentary about an incident.
Rissa is across the fjord from Byneset, where the NCL Salten grounded.
It is also where the ship is now for repairs
Further info from investigation -
âBesides the broken bridge alarm system, inspectors reported that the ISM system did not meet requirements and that the engine room hatch was so heavy that it was difficult to open from the inside.â
That is really bad when engine room cannot easily escape.
A picture from a more âdramaticâ angle:

PS> The picture shows how close the ship was from hitting solid rock, not a sloping gravel beach.
And this is what I hate about some reporters from " european country" . When their guy is involved in some kind of accident or drunkeness case then they report " citizen of a European country" .
When the guy from east european country or a non european country is involved then they splash his full name and citizenship all over the world maritime press adding significantly to his career ruin.
They do virtue sigtnalling as always yapping loudly about diversity, equality , inclusivenes and all this woke shit when in public.
But deep inside, the genetic and endemic racism and CONTEMPT towards others is firmly embeded and manifest itself from time to time when their WOKE GUARD is down.
What a bunch of hipocrytes!!!
The most prominent and shining example of this rasist hypocrisy and racial bias , is quoted even today .
The famous phrase of Joseph Borrell - the vice chairman of European Commision who :
refered to EU ambassadors as âgardenersâ and urged them to âgo to the jungle,â that is to carry out their diplomatic work âŚ
Insinuating that Europe is " The Garden " and the rest of the world is a âJungleâ gaining the nickname of JUNGLEMAN and hatred of the aboregines.
We all know Dr.Bugge what a nationality of the pilot was and that He had an exemption. No need to hide it and we know shit happens in maritime environment and more or less we know why.
Cheers
His nationality has been mentioned in an earlier media report I posted, after it was said that âthe Master is Norwegianâ, which proved to be wrong.
To recap:

- The most recent class inspection of the vesselâs condition and onboard safety culture was conducted in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in January 2025.
And their press release about the accident:
" no need to hide it was a general statement, not a complaint that You are hiding it .
Trust it clarifies.
Cheers
I did NOT think you accused me of hiding anything.
PS> It would be hidden in clear sight in that case. I just pointed out that it had all been mentioned before.
The case is not over, however:
Evacuees are waiting for someone to clean up: â We are definitely talking about millions of dollars
â We live in a very difficult situation, and we know nothing about what will happen in the future. Now we hope to get back to where we were, says Jostein Jørgensen.
He, his wife and son had to evacuate their house after the landslide, which was triggered by the ship NCL Salten running aground at Byneset on May 22.
Residents cannot move back until security measures have been implemented, says Lars Viko Gaupset, City Councilor for Urban Development in Trondheim Municipality.
â It must be safe for them to move back to use the houses, he says.
But the security measures have not been initiated. No one is taking responsibility for the costs.
No one will currently foot the bill for cleaning up and securing the landslide area after the NCL Salten ran aground at Byneset in Trondheim.
Mayor of Trondheim Municipality, Kent Ranum, is clear about who he believes is responsible.
âThe shipping company NCL must step up and clean up its own mess,â says Ranum.
The municipality will not pay for this.
In the meantime, the municipality is monitoring the area and keeping an eye on changes and movements.
â But beyond that, there is nothing we are doing, with a view to ensuring that no more damage occurs, says Eidsmo.
CEO of the shipping company North Sea Container Line (NCL), Bente Hetland, refers to the shipowners who are represented by the law firm WikborgRein by attorney Sindre Slettevold. He has no comment on the matter.

Itâs not over yet. Some are still evacuated from their home due to danger of further land slides and quarrel between institution about who is responsible for taking action to secure the ground.
But one person is happy with his insurance company for promptly meeting their obligation: Fikk skip i hagen â takker forsikringsselskapet
NCL Salten is back in action. She left Fosen Shipyard this morning and commenced loading cargo in Orkanger on her first trip back in service. Next port Holla:
PS> She will call at Ă lesund tomorrow on her way to Bremerhaven and Hamburg:
That should be the end of this saga for the ship, but the people at Byneset is still waiting to return home.
