Strange than that I was looking at Filipino AB’s true my binoculars last time I was in Florø. And that the crew on the Nor-Line boats serving the harbours at the coast is Easter European.
It’s your own fault that you can’t work on a Norwegian ship. Get international recognised certificates and come playing. I’d loved having American shipmates it would have been nice knowing if you all act like the people in Discovery channel shows :D
Sure, because there are certainly no nuts in Norway.
Does Anders Breivik ring a bell?
Why don’t I go over to the Normand Pacific of Veiola environmental tied up at Galveston Haliburton (for only God knows how long) and see how many Discovery Channel loving Americans are serving as any type of credentialed mariner on her right now?
Bozo…does that translate? I have an old fried who lives/works in Norway, reckon I should see what he has to say. Some kinda mechanical engineer or naval architect (and American, lol) who the hell knows, but i bet he knows.
Bottom line is they refuse to hire Americans when they work over here, that would be nice to see change.
1) Your english is hilarious. It almost makes your argument worthwhile to read.
Maybe you do have Filipino AB’s, but you sure as hell don’t have any non-Scandinavian officers in the North Sea.
If we’re covered in STCW certifications why are our licenses not internationally recognized? You’re not going to win the argument that some pacific-island 3rd mate has a license that means more than an American 3rd mate’s license. It simply isn’t so. If our licenses aren’t recognized it’s because people like the Norwegians have stacked the deck against Americans because they don’t want us around for various different reasons.
Vah fi faen hellveta!
His English is a lot better than our Norwegian. Probably his French and Spanish too.

Bozo = clown = klovn?
A Norwegian ship needs a crew that has certificates recognised by Norwegian maritime directorate to operate.

Nei, bare noen.
I am very sorry to say that we have some (far too many) people in America who do act like they could be on the Discovery channel. Unfortunately, this was caused by a failed American experiment in socialism called welfare. Ja Ja.

I would say it was worth it. Discovery channel has saved countless boring trips at sea. To bad they have ruined the TV channel by sending advertisement about the shows on Discovery every 15 minutes! Where’s the logic?
Sort of. I was on a Danish ship at the time (long story). I wasn’t supposed to be an officer but the Captain decided I was more use to him within a Danish license than an American one so I could actually stand watch and such. He picked up some book he had onboard that told him that from a US license to Danish was equivalent - no test. Took my picture, sent in copies of my documents, sent me for a physical the next day, and the day after that the office sent him a copy of my new Danish Recognition Certificate. Voila. Of course that pissed one of the Croatian engineers off since he had applied for his months ago and had to take a test and he still didn’t have one in hand yet. Didn’t cost me a penny. I don’t know that you can just go apply for one - the company had to sponsor me. Wouldn’t want to sail there either - Chief Mate was making about $60k a year - but that was good money to him.
