Once when describing the difference between Buffets Berkshire Hathaway & small investors I used the difference between a real estate investor & a person who buys REIT ETF’s. Buffet would be like a very shrewd real estate investor with deep pockets who buys an office building to rent out when he is nearly certain the building is managed well, can fix it if it’s not & will be rewarded handsomely. A small investors like me is a person with limited funds & resources who buys into a REIT ETF & hopefully gets a decent return with no say in how the properties & funds are managed.
