Is Self-study available, as opposed to maritime academy training to save money?

I was the kid who read instruction manuals and computer books for fun growing up so Nate wasn’t to bad a read for me as long as I skipped the terrestrial and celestial formulas.

Obviously you aren’t engineer material then. Read the manuals. Yeah, as a last resort maybe.

Exactly why I couldn’t cut it as an engineer. Always wanting to RTFM, hence the reason I’m in the wheel house.
