Authorities Find 16.5 Tons of Cocaine on Ship at Port of Philadelphia - gCaptain

I’ll lay 10 to 1 odds MSC will ignore any attempt to collect.

Thank our lucky stars for the Supreme Court for correcting a gross injustice although I don’t always agree with their decisions.
Hopefully she didn’t have to suffer armed and dangerous cops with cammo face paint breaking down the front door, tossing flash bang grenades and screaming at her to get down at the point of their latest hand me downs from the Seal Teams.

The crew boat ‘Big Stone Express’ from Big Stone port went twice to the ‘MSC Gayane’.
Replacing the crew lost in battle?

I would have to assume a wholesale clean sweep of everyone onboard would have have to follow such an embarrassing debacle.

It really makes you wonder how and why the ship has not been welded to the dock pending sale.

If the ship’s top knew and informed the DEA what was happening, the cartel would certainly not like it.

There is not only a substantial financial loss, but also worse, a substantial loss of their reputation as ‘efficient’ traders. Everyone not arrested would certainly be a suspect…

It is inconceivable that anyone on that ship did not know what was happening. Anyone not arrested has to be a “dead man walking” if that ship is not seized and sold. If it sails away it is virtual proof that someone informed someone, the exceptions to forfeiture require cooperation or complete ignorance and ignorance at this scale is really difficult to believe.

MSC ships would be denied future service in this case

There is more to this story than is being released, or the affidavits are false. Ships stores take the crew all day in port, with a crane, and weigh about 1 to 2 tons. 16 tons underway??? Makes me think of the old expression “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” The gcaptain article says all bundles were brought below decks. The problem here is that containers can’t be opened below decks because of cell guides. Really the only containers that can be opened underway are on the hatch one or two high, after removing the lashing. It would take a feat of coordination for those containers to line up with the nefarious receivers. The coordination maybe could happen but 16 tons underway I’m not buying.

Tell that to the Dutch authorities after all the MSC container contents washed up on their shores.

Think about how many swamp dwellers have Swiss bank accounts they would just as soon not see daylight. Giving MSC a pass is pretty small payback and a great investment for the DC royals.

It’s not like this is a little Belize flagged coaster dropping off a few bricks in Miami.

I was referring to the shifting fees

I was referring to “there is more to the story.”

When I was running to the US West Coast the crew had an hour to get stores onboard. If it took any longer longshoremen had to do it at ships expense which was another bloody headache I didn’t need.

I’d like to know more about how the 2nd mate tested positive for coke on his hands and arms. Cocaine dissolves in water so the cartels wrap the coke in 1 kilogram bundles in sealed waterproof rubber bags and then seal them again with air tight plastic sheeting before marking them with the consignee’s brand even if the shipments are due for overland delivery.
The only way to access the contents is to puncture the package with a knife blade or other sharp tool and that takes positive effort. Doing so might get the product on your hands unless wearing gloves.
You’d have to open a package and dig into it with both hands to get raw product on your arms. Even so, all you’d have to do afterwards if you did so is shower and the cocaine would dissolve and go down the drain. Residual traces would be gone in 24 to 48 hours.
Anyone associated with law enforcement or smuggling knows how much the cartels frown on such behavior. If the guilty party’s family is lucky, they get his head delivered in a box. More often they are punished execution style ASAP to teach a lesson to anyone watching.
The whole narrative about this bust is full of holes and aimed at making your clueless average taxpayer feel good about how his tax money is being spent.

It must be election time in Philly.

Now, the ‘MSC Gayane’ is back at the container dock of Philadelphia port.

There must be a lot of innocent victims to this. The owners of legit goods in all the other containers have been very badly affected.

I would be pretty pissed off if I had goods on the Gayane and was waiting for it to arrive. Especially if those goods were time critical.

As some have said, this “arrest” seems intended as a political stunt rather than to catch critical parts of the supply chain.

I would to and maybe think twice before booking cargo with MSC in the future. There are other carriers with better records both for safety and contraband.

My nephew has his personal move on the ship. Now paying at the same time for a hotel room and rent on an empty apartment. For how long???

Legal case against someone?

I suggest the politicians who decided to make this a public arrest in the run up to the elections?
