I’ll do you one better, or worse. I have a deckineer that I hired to fill in. She is working on her Mate of Towing Vessels. She has time on an inspected passenger vessel in Alaska that tows barges to some remote islands. The vessel is required by COI to have a master of towing vessels aboard (when towing).
NMC will not give her the seatime. They keep stating that passenger vessel time doesn’t count for MOTV. She even called her congressman and NMC won’t budge.
So they require a MOTV but will not credit seatime as such on this vessel.
I also see a crisis coming with vessels that tow arrays, wires, trawls etc. After that RVs array hit the platform’s anchor in the Gulf. I see more Mariners getting their TOAR and even received a call to be Captain on a passenger vessel towing a buoy.
