Two cargo ships collide off Japan

An extensive search operation is under way off an island in central Japan after two cargo ships collided.
One of them, a South Korean vessel with 16 crew members, is missing. The other, a Panama-registered cargo ship, was damaged but its crew is safe.
The Japanese Coast Guard has despatched six patrol vessels.
An airborne search effort has also been launched near the island of Izu Oshima, about 120km (74 miles) south of the capital Tokyo. <!-- E SF -->

Based on where the damage is on the CYGNUS ACE’s bow, I’d say the other vessel was a boat and is now lost with all hands

God save their souls and may they rest in the deep in peace…:frowning:
