Is Vantage about to be bought out? Why is the Rig in the GOM losing so many people?
During my previous hitch, some guys from the galley told me Vantage was being bought by Noble.
Is the cook ever wrong?

I heard Noble or Diamond, also possibly Seadrill.
But the other, that could be a possibility.

I think most rigs mobilized to the GOM will have problems keeping people if those people find opportunities outside of the GOM.

Unless they get rid of the pay differential between GOM and Overseas (Like Atwoods and Diamond Offshore). But I cant imagine entire rigs losing crews, especially with the majority of newbuilds going to the GOM, someone has to work them. Congrats on your new position!

Seadrill and Transocean changed the GOM service premium to 20%, from what I gather, earlier this year. That is certainly a good start. I have no idea where they are going to get the people though, no matter how much money is thrown around. Thanks.
Vantage pays pretty damn good. I know for Chief Mate in the Gulf was more or the same as Seadrill overseas (not Africa). It was enough to make you think about it.

Only for certain positions…OIM, Toolpusher, DSL, and a few others.

I think that this has more to do with it then anything else. The few people that I knew who left when back to shipyard gigs… on rigs that are coming to the GoM. Most everyone is happy but there are those guys that would still bitch if you serve filet mingon topped with crab for dinner and a BJ for dessert.
With this being a new company, there are going to be some bumps in the road and some people may leave for more stability
I am really happy here…great bunch of guys and gals on the rig…good support from the beach

From what I hear it is because there is a feeling that Vantage is another Frontier. They think the CEO and his guys started the company to make themselves wealthy and eventually sell out to the highest bidder. We all know how that worked out for the people who were working for Frontier when Noble bought them. There is a lot of clawing for advancement so as to have a better resume by any means possible before the inevitable happens. This makes for an uncomfortable situation so people get tired of the BS and move on. Sadly it is usually the most qualified that are the first to leave, simply because they can.
