It was a crude planet but since we were all suffering our mutual fates together in our ship we got along well enough and sometimes even managed to have a good time in the process. there were no special snowflakes who had to be protected…you either were one of us or you weren’t and those who weren’t had no place out there on the bid bad ocean! ---

I’d take a crossdresser who could do their work competently but got weird on their own time over a former boss who used to drop trow, skivvies included, to his ankles to piss in a urinal. That shit was awkward as hell. ---

I remember my first ship as 3rd where the messman and pantryman/utility shared a room. The messman was gay but the pantryman was not. While in the Philippines the pantryman got a bit weirded out when he walked in the room and the messman was getting humped by a Filipino longshoreman. On the way back to the States I was sitting on deck after lunch one afternoon and the wiper comes out and we start to talk about stuff. Somehow the conversation touched upon the messman. The wiper turns to me and says the messman is offering blow jobs for $10 a pop. After a few moments he says, “ya know, he’s not half bad”. I didn’t know quite what to say and just got up and went inside. I know a bit off topic. ---
