# What does this hull marking mean?

No, the vertical zigzag line says ‘all is approximative’…

The triangle shows where the bow, last seen, should be; the filled dot says where it is most probably not.

I though it may indicate the position of the collision bulkhead (??)  
The part forward of the mark can be lost without the ship sinking:
