Torpedoed by the border wall

Really aint hard to pull the wool over their eyes. Just tell em some little mexican kid is getting a free education on their dime and they start ranting on forums.

For really reals though, why wasn’t wall legislation passed when he had the house and the senate. Why is it an EMERGENCY now? Is it all fucking bullshit?

What part of the Cheeto isn’t?

Is it only one? I thought there were more.

Pretty much. I quit watching the circus of the absurd a while ago when the idea of firing rounds into TV newscasts started to make sense.

It varies depending on how close it is to election day.

Nothing helps ease the frustration like a steel target and plenty of .556.

The majority of the entrants coming across the border is not Mexicans but Central Americans running away from poverty, crime and violence, with the intention of legal entry, seeking protection under the 1967 Protocol to the UN Convention on Refugees.
Since they are being hindered from entry at legal crossings, some try to cross illegally, which makes them “illegal migrants” in the eyes of the Law, but the majority is waiting endlessly in camps near the entry point.

Maybe looking at the root cause of the “crisis” would be an idea?
Since 2004 USA has taken on itself to be the Police in Latin America, with the right to intervene whenever it felt like:

Maybe now is the time to do so again? Not by military might and exploitation, but help to develop just and democratic governance and economic development through trade and legal entry to fill the many seasonal jobs that is now standing unfilled:

If the present Governments in Latin America are unable or unwilling to do anything for their own people, maybe they could be “persuaded” to step aside and let a democratically elected Government meeting the approval of the US, EU, OAS and the UN Security Council take over.

There are forces in the Administration baying for “regime change” all over the place so it is not a novel idea to them. (The method may be though)

Just a radical thought by an outsider.

“This is going to cause the price of crabmeat to go out of sight,” said Harry Phillips, owner of Russell Hall Seafood on Hooper’s Island. “There’s not going to be hardly any Maryland crabmeat. . . . It looks like it’s a matter of time before they’re going to shut all of us down.”

Boohoo. Substitute cotton for seafood and I hear a wealthy southern plantation owner bitching about the end of slavery.

Perpetuating hysteria when your knowledge of the southern border is nil weakens your point.

If a profit seeking company in America cannot succeed while paying a reasonable wage to American workers, then it should go out of business and make room for other American companies and entrepreneurs who can.

would have taken 60 votes in the senate…didn’t have that

Reconciliation vote would’ve allowed a budget bill with a wall. He could’ve had his wall with 51 votes.

As long as the greedy owners of American companies are allowed to profiteer on the backs of cheap temporary foreign labor, or illegal aliens, with substandard wages that no one can live on, that will continue to drive down wages for the poorest American citizens and legal immigrants.

These same greedy companies are getting a massive subsidy from us American taxpayers. Since they do not pay a living wage, we taxpayers have to make up the difference between the substandard wages they pay, and what it actually costs to live in America , with a multitude of welfare programs.

I don’t like subsidizing these big employers who pay a shit wage. Make them citizens and pay them a living wage, give them employment protections. Someone who wants to work shouldn’t have to do so in the shadows.

Was that all you got out of the article that quote came from?

Are there any takers here for the job of “picking crabs” (or cotton, or strawberries etc.), even at the “socialist” proposed USD 15/hr.??

PS> Isn’t the US unemployment rate for everybody at an all time low, or is that “Fake News”?

It’s supply and demand. Let’s make sure that American Citizens and lawful permanent resident aliens are getting job opportunities with a good living wage, BEFORE we give any competing workers legal status. If the supply of labor becomes tight, wages and benefits will rise, and welfare programs will shrink. If we continue to allow a flood of temporary visa workers into America there will continue to be too much supply and American wages will never rise and welfare programs will grow larger.

We have more than enough socialist politicians in America advocating expensive open door policies, they don’t need help from Norway.

I don’t see Norway offering refuge to thousands of Central American families either.

Would the wall not have fallen under the Byrd rule (due to it increasing the deficit over an extended period) which then would have required 60 votes to overrule?

If it truly could have been done with 51 votes he/McConnell must have had doubts whether all Republicans would’ve voted for it.

THANK YOU…and more specifically, since @ombugge thinks it’s such a great idea, perhaps he can enlighten us as to how many refugees he currently has boarded in his house.

In December, there will be a new budget process for a lot of Democrat must have welfare programs. That will be Trump’s opportunity to get significant wall funding.

There are some, but most refugees and asylum seekers coming to Norway are from Middle East and Africa. Previously from the Balkans and Sri Lanka.

BTW: Norway has as many foreign born residents as the US in % of population.

None. Refugees are well taken care of. Housed in normal good standard accommodations and settled all over the country.
Asylum seekers are either in open reception centres while waiting for their case to be heard, or housed in flats among the general population. No barbed wire and tent cities and no ankle bracelets.

Just curious; how many refugees, asylum seekers, or migrants do you have in your house?? Do you take in any of the many homeless now in the cold winter??

None, zero, ziltch and that’s where my total will remain. The difference is that I am not on here advocating that you should be doing something that I am not doing myself. That’s called hypocrisy and I try my best to avoid doing it myself and also point it out to self-righteous perpetrators of hypocrisy at every opportunity. You, especially in your china propaganda thread, have offered numerous opportunities to do so and are doing it here once again.

If you feels so strongly about it, why don’t you go to some Norwegian thread and pound the drum that Norway should take some of those vastly superior vessels they produce down to Central America and pick up loads and loads of refugees?

and then the butt-hurt hillary worshipers start whining, pissing and moaning on the same forums…and the cycle continues…
