Singapore once more

At least they can be proud of having the “most powerful” passport in the world in their pocket, giving them access to 193 countries around the world:

Singapore is alone as #1 ranking, ahead of the next country; South Korea. (190)
followed by Japan (189) at 3rd ranking.

4th and 5th rankings are filled by mostly EU countries.

New Zealand and Norway (186) shear 6th ranking with UK (184) at 8th ranking, followed by Canada (183) alone at 9th ranking.

USA shear 12th ranking with Malaysia (180),

Afghanistan (24) is alone at the bottom of the list, ranked #106.

doesnt that mean they will let anyone in hence all the counter deals?

Here is an example, did they buy them or born here?

Don’t know what this is supposed to be a reply to, or what it mean, (?)

PS> Here is the article in Straits Times where the picture came from:

why does a Singapore passport get you visa free access to so many countries?
Is it because they let anyone in?
Is it because they sell passports no questions asked?
Is it because they bank anyones money?

This doesn’t make sense. Maybe it’s because a great many countries think Singapore is a good neighbor.

YES!!! YOU ARE A PROOF OF THAT!!

It does make sense most visa requirements are tit for tat, if you make people apply for visa they retaliate and do it to your population.
Singapore in a lucky position as fairly secure borders and finger prints photo etc of anyone coming in so they can find people.

Will the long saga of the Lee families’ home at 38 Oxley Road finally be settled?

This has split the family since Lee Kuan Yew’s death in March 2015:

Dr. Lee Wei Ling occupied the premises until her death in Oct. 2024, which stopped any plans of demolition, or conversion into a “shrine” for LKY until then.

In my opinion it will be good for both the Lee family and for Singapore that this dispute is settled, one way or the other.

PS> I have walked past this gate many times over the years:

The security arrangement changed from the mid-1960s, when it was non-existent, to armed guards at the gate and the tall fence of today. Those came up sometime in the mid-1970, when Israeli security advisors were shocked at the lack of security, both her and at the Istana.
A block of flats across the road from the Istana had free access to upper floors and free view of the PMs office from there. (Upper floors had the external walkways bricked up on their advice)

Singapore doesn’t rank as high in this category:

At least Singapore keeps it’s #19 from last year.

Whose ego is being stroked to prevent the house from being pulled down as LKY stated many times over the years and wrote in his will.
Greater Singapore is his legacy not a house.

Maybe you can answer that question?

AGREE!! Yes he has much of the honour for the Singapore success story, together with the troika: GOH KENG SWEE , DR TOH CHIN CHYE , S. JAYARATNAM

Goh Keng Swee worked out the long term issues for Singapore but his views were not the govs and here we are in an economy he predicted, low productivity and zero entrepreneurs and no risk taking, just filling up with low skilled workers.
The gov took the staying in power route rather than the risk of allowing and promoting free thinking.
