Should I go ahead and get a radar endorsement?

I have a Master 50 ton inland, getting my AB next week, marine radio permit, twic, passport ect… My question is should I spend the 700 bucks to get my original radar endorsement now or just wait? It’s just something to put on a resume, that I’ll eventually need, but not sure if it would make any difference now. I’ll be able to upgrade to 100 ton this summer, and want to take a trip down to the gulf this coming winter(Jan 2013) to look for a job in the gulf. Not picky on job hunting in the GOM, probably looking for an AB job on tugs, OSV’s, crewboats, or inland towboats(that’s what I’d like to do, but the pay stinks!) Any ideas or suggestions?

Your gonna need a near coastal endorsement as well.

Yeah, I gotta get some offshore time as an AB to get that near coastal. Working on that, thanks. Any thoughts on the radar?

If you plan on working as an AB for a while, do the RADAR later after you’ve saved up some of that AB cash.

Ya wait on the radar, at this point it wont mean zip to a potential employer.

Thanks guys
