It is when it is applied to providors that it really upsets crews. In one company they changed 3 times and each time the items that could be ordered got less and those that could were of less quality. All the companies supplying food were based in Singapore. I remember the cook showing me a carton of what was supposed to be bacon was more like a box of lard.

New CTM procedures in the Suez Canal:
In wake of the recent decision to regulate and control the flow of foreign currencies in and out of the country by the Central Bank of Egypt, a new regulation for CTM delivery in Suez Canal and all the Egyptian ports has been stipulated as follows:
“ the related formalities to withdraw the CTM amount from the bank need Two full working days. It has to be mentioned clearly in the remittance’s details that this amount is intended for a CTM delivery for “vessel’s name”.”
Please consider the following points:
CTM formalities take 48 hours to process from the time the CTM is received into our account, therefore the CTM amount should be received + two full working days prior to vessel’s arrival.
National holidays and the weekend ( Friday and Saturday) are not working days for CTM processing period.
If formalities are not completed by the bank due to shortage of time, the CTM will not be able to be released by the Custom Authorities.
Kindly be guided accordingly & shall update you if these regulations eased in the near future.
