Can someone give me a name and phone number
I don’t believe Lafferty’s has closed…just looked them up and they appear to still be supplying all manner of vessels with medicine chests. Try going to: https://www.laffertysems.com/
I’m looking for the doctor that has a Marine Medical clinic near Pier 90, supplies medical kits , and Satphone advice. I cannot remember her name or the name of her clinic.
I really like the Lafferty medical kits. I hear that Lafferty did close their pharmacy across from Swedish Hospital in Ballard, but I think that they are still selling medical kits.
I think Remote Medical International moved across the ship canal from the place they had a couple of blocks west of Fisherman’s. (206) 686-4878
I’m pretty sure that Washington Sea Grant had suggestions when I took their course. Current POC is; Robert Maw, WSG fisheries specialist, rmaw@uw.edu or (775) 721-3376.
North Pacific Fishing Vessel Owners’ Association or Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) probably have informal lists too.
The people that were on the pier (next to it), that’s Discovery Health, and Dr Ann Jarris. They do kits and oversight including controlled meds and offer the phone a friend service.
The stuff about Remote Medical International is older info- they closed their Seattle warehouse and headquarters and operate on a different model now.
Dr Jarris is still doing it, I know they worked with Lafferty’s, and I know the other suppliers in Seattle have changed hands as well- but they still exist.
Combining Discovery Health with a kit recommendation from them is the wise move.

Lafferty’s is still in business, BUT, last June I placed an order for Epipens and Z-packs, and it took them 4.5months to ship to me. They were unresponsive to my query’s for order and shipping information. They sure were quick to quote me and take our money… I’ll be looking for a new vendor this year.
Discovery Health (Dr Jarris) has close ties to Bellegrove Medical- who used to be smaller, but is now part of a much larger organization (globally), but is down just south of Seattle. I’ve used them quite a bit over the years. They deal a lot with cruise ships, but others as well.
For straight medication purchases without the need for oversight or advice, I use Seaside Marine down in California. They’ve been at it forever and have fulfilled tiny orders and massive orders with minimal notice- globally if needed.
I cannot get anyone at Discovery Health to return my phone call or respond to my email. From looking at their website, it looks to me like they have sold out to someone that focuses on controlled substances management.
When a company that supposedly provides Satphone medical advice cannot answer the phone or return a call, that’s not very promising.
Discovery Health stopped their medical consultation business in 2023. A corporate ghost exists, doing adjacent stuff.
We use Alaska Maritime Physicians (AMP) for consultations. For our business it works very well because of their doctor/nurse contacts in Anchorage.
We get our medications etc from Laffertys but do the packing/inventorying of the kits ourselves.
That’s frustrating. I just wrote back and forth with Dr Jarris; and you’re correct as of now- everything that she is doing is privately at this point and mostly surrounding controlled substance management and medication ordering and she is working mostly through Bellegrove Medical-.
The folks at Lafferty’s are great, I’ve used them for both maritime and aviation kits- the phone a friend service I currently just use GWU maritime, but that’s for my current job and that’s worldwide/international waters/deep sea stuff.
Sorry I didn’t check with Dr Jarris before replying earlier- my apologies for that. I can tell you that people got a little spooked with the definition tightening of Telemedicine vs Tele-health vs Consultation during and just after COVID. That really threw a ton of people into a tailspin regarding their own internal policies, procedures and documentation/contracts.
We use lafferty’s to re-stock kits, pretty sure we use Alaska Maritime Physicians for on call help https://www.alaskamaritimephysicians.com/
Not at work at the moment, so can’t verify.
Been real happy with them the few times I’ve had to call and use their services.
