Recency for QMED

Does the Recency requirement (90 days in last 3 years) apply to an Original Application for a QMED License?

Check the USCG QMED checklist I think not says on there.

I checked the USCG Checklist and it doesn’t list Recency. Sea Service Requirement, but not 90 days within previous 3 years.

No. The requirement is in 46 CFR Part 11, and thus is only applicable to licenses.

No where is it listed for recency.

As was posted earlier, (although not directly said) A QMED is NOT an officers license. It is similar to an AB, PIC, or other unlicensed rating. “Recency” is only a part of an actual officers license.

Thank You Mr. Cavo and Cappy208! That was my interpretation too and I was hoping for this sort of confirmation. My application is awaiting PQEB right now and the Recency issue was my only concern.

THANKS!!!
