Buried in the CG Authorization bill, now in Committee, is a section 213 on Radar Refresher Training that says “Section 11.480(f) of [46 CFR] as in effect immediately before enactment of this Act, shall have no force or effect.”
If you go to 46 CFR 11.480(f), that’s the section that lets you take a radar refresher every five years to renew what used to be a Radar Observer endorsement on your license.
So… what are they trying to do here??? I hope, please, that the intent is not to require the five day class every 5 years instead of a one day refresher.
