Trying to get an understanding on compensation for the Blue water ships vs. OSVs in the GOM. I think that I would like the blue water work but I am worried the pay won’t be close enough to what I am making now in the GOM. Some of what I see posted online leads me to believe that the blue water doesn’t pay as well so I am confused as to why more people aren’t going to the GOM.
I am nearing my 3rd mate so that is the specific position that I would be interested in if anyone has any input. I am looking at all forms of compensation so benefits, training, etc. are all being considered.
