> Photo: Marine Teknikk
>
> After many years of development, it is a great milestone to finally see the vessel afloat. The hull has been constructed at Montex, and the vessel will be towed to G. Y. Kleven in Norway for final completion.
> Operated by OMV Petrom, ELISA will operate on the Romanian continental shelf as a Walk-to-Work and accommodation vessel for up to 90 personnel, supporting a offshore platform for gas production with logistics, maintenance and workshop capabilities.
>
> A key feature of the vessel is Marin Teknikk’s Motion Compensating System (MCS), enabling safe gangway operations in sea states up to Hs = 4.5 m. By reducing vessel motions, the design increases operability, extends weather windows, and improves working conditions offshore for both crew and equipment.
> The system is fully passive, requiring no energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable offshore operation.
>
> This project also demonstrates precise weight control and Marin Teknikk’s naval architecture execution, with the vessel floating exactly at its calculated waterline.
> We look forward to following MT6067 “ELISA” through the final stages and into operation.»

> The vessel is developed in close collaboration between SBM Offshore, Solstad Offshore and Salt Ship Design, combining extensive maritime operational experience with a forward-looking approach to efficiency, flexibility and performance - including low emissions and carbon neutral pathway.
> The design builds on key learnings from Normand Installer, that Solstad and SBM Offshore have jointly operated since 2006, refined for future deepwater projects.
> With a strong focus on installation capabilities and operational versatility, the vessel is equipped to handle complex subsea and construction scopes in demanding environments and water depths down to 4000 meters.

**Contract suspensions and insurance spikes pressure Gulf offshore market**

> In its latest Horizon Monthly Offshore report, British consultancy MSI notes that whilst rig contract terminations have been few, a return to pre-conflict levels could take months as fields are brought back onstream and construction projects resume.
> Despite the relatively short-lived nature of many drilling suspensions, several key operators within the Gulf Cooperation Council suspended or terminated some associated vessel contracts. This was observed across all three key countries – Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.
> A few owners have, or are expecting, newbuild vessels for delivery that are currently unable to access the Gulf. This has led to these vessels waiting in the Gulf of Oman for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, whilst some owners look for opportunities in alternative markets, primarily in India or Southeast Asia.

> It is with great sorrow that I announce that my father, Shipowner Johannes Solstad, passed away peacefully last night at nearly 96 years of age.

> Johannes Solstad has died, nearly 96 years old. Few others have contributed to the development of Norwegian shipping to the same extent as he did. The shipping company he built is today a leading offshore shipping company nationally and globally with nearly 2,200 employees and 40 ships in the fleet.
>
> Solstad Rederi bought its first boat in 1964, the 25-year-old general cargo ship “Prosper”. She weighed 8,700 deadweight tons and was now renamed “Soldrott”. Johannes had an office in the attic above “Jernvaren” in Skudeneshavn, and when he received a call, it was reported with a stick on the ceiling from the shop below. The shipowner did not have a telephone himself.
>
> Most people know the shipping company as an offshore shipping company, which was renamed Solstad Offshore in 1997. This year Solstad was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, partly to be able to focus on the growing subsea market. Johannes Solstad wanted the shipping company to have a leading position offshore with advanced special vessels. More capital was then needed.
>
> **Sailor, yes. Businessman, yes. But most importantly; Johannes Solstad was a good person, liked by everyone!
> We will shine peace upon the memory of Johannes Solstad.**

I only met him one times. RIP Johannes!!! 😔
