Non profit museum wants to auction off boat rides

Greetings Sailors

I have a question about the legality our local historical museum’s desire to auction off boat rides. The situation here is that the winning bidder in exchange for donating to the museum gets to take a ride on a sailboat. In this case a privately owned saiboat in which the owner will not be onboard the boat. Instead the boat will have a an unpaid volunteer captain.

Legal or Not???

The next potential situation would be to use a paid captain. In this case must the Captian have the proper USCG license. However the captain would be paid by the owner yet all the donated money goes to the museum.

Legal or Not???

The most unlikely situation is the owner himself will be the Captain and all money is donated to the museum

Legal or Not???

Yes it would be on USCG waters, Great Lakes
