NMC Term “RECEIVED/AWAITING SEC”

Could anyone tell me what does “RECEIVED/AWAITING SEC” mean as far as the National Maritime Center’s website? Checking on MMC status, and this is what it has. I couldnt find anything on their website and to what it means.

“Typically, by the time your application arrives at NMC, your background check has been completed and the application can move on. However, credential(s) moved to this temporary state indicate that the screening has not yet been completed. In the event NMC requires additional information, you will be notified in writing, by mail.”

The first stage of an evaluation at NMC is the safety and suitability review. I assume SEC means security, an inexact abbreviation for this phase.
