So yesterday I got an email that my application was being evaluated.
This morning I got an email with the dreaded ‘awaiting more information.’ I was super happy to see that the awaiting more information notice was included as an attachment. Thats definately a step in the right direction compared to how things were before. No more waiting for it to come in the mail or calling them to figure it out.
I didn’t word correctly an stcw endorsement on the app, my mistake. So I wrote a word document asking to drop what I applied for and corrected my wording, then uploaded it to the website. This suggestion was also provided on the attachment. Definately seeing an improvement on the process.
Update: after submitting my upload to awaiting information, got the email yesterday that I was approved to print and my new mmc was in the mail. I added tank barge PIC and tank ship assistant with the appropriate stcw endorsements.
So, assuming I receive it in the mail later this week or early next week, it will be about a 10 week turnaround from beginning to end.
Now it just depends on the printer and USPS, so it could be another month, but wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be. I don’t love the 40 day wait just to find out that the application was approved though.
