june of 2024? Edit: i misread i thought june 2024 lol. i guess that is about right i got my reject letter at 39 days.
Five weeks? I just renewed mine and had it in hand in 7 days.
Well I’m sure many of you have seen the update that they have lowered the estimated timeline to 8 months. I guess thats progress, but it sure would be nice to at least see them enter my application into the system before the end of summer.
So… hedging my bets here. They have an 8 month deferral that allows you to submit early without loosing time on your license.
If I sent in my application 12 months early and they don’t begin processing for 7 months. Would they issue the credential based upon the date of submission? (I lose 4 months). Or, would they issue based upon the date the processing began?
4 months over 5 years is irrelevant. Submit early and save yourself the potential headache.
Not to some. The 8-month provision came about because some were quite agitated over what was termed “license creep.” Others were less concerned…
Is it really 8 months
NMC update June 16th
“Effective immediately, complete applications are expected to be processed within 8 months from the date received, an improvement from the previously published estimate of 8-12 months.”
Planning to procrastinate again? As already noted they will delay the effective date up to 8 months to coincide with the expiry of your current MMC. Therès no rational reason not to take them at their word.
Planning, hard work, and dedication pay off over time, but procrastination has immediate rewards…
procrastinate again? Not at all i had my mom die job trashed can some people because the smaller boats were not getting any contracts found a new job but i try to renew but was told i was to early and then the 75 day thing hit and then i made a mistake on my app so i have to start over. It is what it is. I think I am over it at this point nothing i can do so i am making the best of all the free time I have. Is it the end of the world not really so what ever.
How long does it take from submission of all attached documents to commencing the review process? A few of us submitted over a month ago and haven’t gotten word they even glanced at them yet. Thought they at least reply that everything was received.
Yeah I’m just about a month in now and still waiting for an application number for my renewal. My application doesnt even exist yet, all I got was confirmation that my documents were uploaded to the system. Would like to keep hearing updates from others to know how its really going.
It took me 39 days before a real human started to look at the app. That is all i know
I was approved to print today. I submitted a straight renewal late March or early April, I can’t find the exact date now.
I’ll update this as I get the emails, but here are my times so far on a straight renewal Master Unlimited - Oceans and associated STCW certs.
5/23 - Submitted on NMC’s ASAP page.
6/30 - Received at REC Portland
7/9 - Cleared the safety and suitability vetting
I’ve been checking in lots of places and its very frustrating to hear of people who applied after me getting progress whereas they havent started my renewal yet. I thought it was meant to be first in, first out, but clearly there are exceptions and ways to jump the line. I was a few days after you but I’ve heard of people who applied in June already getting movement, I’m starting to go a bit stir crazy obsessively checking my email for updates.
No sooner do I say that, I finally get that first update. Received at REC Martinsburg, whew.
There is indeed corruption going on. Was at a union school recently, and a union rep spoke to everyone before class started and said they had contacts at the NMC that could speed things up, and to talk to her if you needed this to happen with your application.
My new MMC showed up yesterday with all the proper endorsements. It didn’t expire until November but I sent it on in early March. 4 months isn’t bad considering the long shut down.
