Hey yall am new to offshore and need some help or advices. First I am a female that’s looking for a career. I already have my TWIC Card and Z- Card, and Safegulf. Okay I just founded out that I need my STCW card so I call the Sea School for the Class and they told me I can get in the Oct Class. Now someone had told me about SIU Union and said that it would be good to join this union the unlicensed Apprentice Program I have to be in that for a year. Am trying to go to work ASAP but don’t no which route to go get my STCW and apply for jobs and hope that I get hire or go to SIU. Could someone give me some good advices. Thanks a bunch ---

You don’t “need” STCW… That all depends on the company’s requirements… But it all depends on what your wanting to do… You wanting to go about becoming a deckhand, AB, QMED, cook? What exactly “offshore” are you wanting to do cause the opportunities are endless as to what to do… Where you wanting to work? GOM, river? Need a little more info to help you… ---

I think she’s actually taken the STCW courses she needs now and may be working. Being that this is a post from August of last year. ---

I don’t think the app has ever worked for Android and I have long suspected that it never will. ---

You could try to send a msg to “Mikey” the gCaptain administrator and let him know your problems and see if anything could be done about it…
