# My TWIC card expired while I was ashore

Called the TWIC folks and they said 6-8 weeks processing time. I went into a Los Angeles TWIC office for photo, fingerprinting etc. and they said my card would be ready in 21 days. Five days later I received a call saying my TWIC card was ready.

I went in this morning for a renewal, fingerprints, new pic and $130 later the nice lady told me 7-10 days. All done w/o an appointment!

Do you need an appointment to pick up the new card?

no, they said they’d call and all I would have to do is come in a pick it up. But with the ridiculous hours TWIC offices hold you may as well mark it in your calender as an appointment. The office here is only open Thursdays from 10-2. so i guess 7-10 days is inaccurate because if it takes more than 7 days I’ll have to wait another week to pick it up.
