I got fired with MSC due to fighting onboard within my probation period. My detailer told me that I was put as a non rehire, while LER said I would be able to reapply in a year. Is it possible to ever reapply with MSC again in about a year or two? I have a clean record it’s just this could be the only thing holding me back.
No offense, but please dont. Fighting on a ship may seem ok in today’s political climate, but it is never ok. Save the people onboard the suffering of having to deal with someone who does not mind fighting onboard. I imagine you will say you learned your lesson but what happens the next time you are put in the same situation?
At first I agreed with you but changed my mind. If a person is going to have mariner credentials, going to work at sea & has a history of physical violence on board, what better place than MSC? At least there the officers have guns to defend themselves. Some even have marines on board to quell any uprising. Stay with MSC please.
My thing is I wasn’t even the aggressor. Now i can say i’m not innocent in the situation because I did argue back and say things. But before the situation could escalate I o away but was allowed. I feel for the bait and argues back then got hit. Never hit them back once, but it was because I was in my probation so period.
Apply for an offshore “wire” tug. You’ll be so tired you won’t want to fight.
Don’t bother reapplying. Fighting on a ship isn’t just a mistake; it’s a massive safety threat to everyone onboard. PROFESSIONAL MARINERS have zero tolerance for drama, instability, and people who can’t control their temper in a confined environment.
A ‘non-rehire’ flag for violence during your probation means MSC is done with you. The industry doesn’t need the liability, and crews don’t need the headache. Find a job on land where your behavior won’t put other people’s lives at risk.
